For if British citizens are under threat from attack by fellow citizens (as well as those, in the case of 21/7 failed bombing, who have been given asylum), then it is a matter for all British citizens, not just British Muslims, to challenge the extremist attitudes that underpin that threat.

It is essential, of course, that such a challenge must avoid demonising Muslims at large and seek to prevent exploitation by the far right. The best way to do this is to treat violent and hate-filled extremism the same way in all its manifestations, regardless of race or religion.

Men visse er så investeret i et bestemt verdenssyn, at de ikke kan se lige. Dertil også, at fjendskab føles godt i nutidens moralske tusmørke, og at det tit er det eneste, man har at holde fast i. Optimistisk er jeg ikke.
